Domestic Destinations: Most Beautiful National Parks

National Park Week kicks off this Saturday, April 18, and in celebration of the event, BudgetTravel has compiled a list of the most beautiful national parks here in our own backyard. Are you the camping type? There are plenty of great spots to pitch a tent and enjoy the view. But for those who like modern conveniences, hotels are right around the corner from some stellar views and experiences.

0178YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK – CALIFORNIA

Being from California, it’s easy to be enthralled with the coast and be content to catch some rays and listen to the waves crash against the shoreline. However, Yosemite is home to the Half Dome cliffs, breathtaking waterfalls, and serene meadows. Grab your hiking boots, bathing suit, and a good book and check out this great park!

With mountains that seem to touch the sky and lakes so clear they’re like glass, Glacier Park offers something for everyone. We would recommend checking out the Highline Trail, but this would be one adventure to leave the kiddies at home for. Those heights are no joke!

Acadia National ParkACADIA NATIONAL PARK – MAINE

Home to one of America’s most beautiful lighthouses, Acadia offers both rugged mountains and ethereal seascapes. this is a family-friendly destination and also perfect for an active, but romantic getaway. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the cliffs. Just don’t get too close!

Big-Bend-Fort-Davis-61BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK – TEXAS

Big Bend may be one of the lesser-known spots on this list, but you can guarantee it’ll be less crowded, giving you the opportunity to take it all in and experience what it has to offer without a huge crowd of people messing up your photos. With rivers and canyons to rival its bigger cousins, Big Bend is definitely a stop worth taking, especially Santa Elena.
